Applicant

Medical doctors or scientists (< 35 years old) planning a short-term research stay at institutions in Germany or abroad.

Funding

The scholarship supports research stays for experimental laboratory work and the transfer of scientific methods. The application must be submitted by the scholarship holder themselves from an institution (university, technical college, Max-Planck-Institute, Helmholtz Center, etc.) in Germany.
(Minimum time oft he stay in Germany/Europe: two weeks; outside of Europe: one month).

Grant for Accommodation and Living Expenses:
Flat rate of € 250 per week

Travel Allowance (one-time):
Europe: € 300
Germany: € 150
Other regions: € 1,200

Additional funding for consumables, insurance, etc., will not be provided.

Requirements

The project to be funded should contribute to translational science and research aimed at clarifying the role of protease systems—especially in malignant diseases—and related biological factors and mechanisms.

The scholarship cannot be combined with other scholarships or research funding for the stay at the host laboratory.

The applicant must ensure that the necessary permits for working with experimental animals, genetically modified organisms (GMOs), or human biological samples are in place at the host institution.

Timeframe

Evaluation of the application by the HENNER GRAEFF Foundation is targeted to take place within two months. If the application is successful, the research stay must begin within six months. A final report (maximum of 3 pages) must be submitted two months after the end of the scholarship, summarizing the scientific data obtained during the stay at the host institution and its added value, as well as its integration into the current research project. The final report must be signed by the applicant’s supervisor at the home institution, the head of the host laboratory, and the applicant.
