The HENNER GRAEFF Foundation
The HENNER GRAEFF Foundation promotes basic and clinical research, primarily in the field of tumor cell biology and oncology. Its focus lies on scientific investigations into the role of protease systems, relevant biological factors, and underlying molecular mechanisms, particularly with respect to tumor progression and metastasis.
The foundation was established in 2013 by Annemarie Graeff in memory of her husband, Prof. Dr. Henner Graeff. The HENNER GRAEFF Foundation is a recognized foundation under civil law.
Prof. Dr. Graeff served as the director of the Department and Clinic for Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Klinikum rechts der Isar of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) from 1982 until his retirement in 2000. He fostered close collaborations between basic and clinical researchers to connect science and patient care as closely as possible. His goal was always to translate new scientific findings into clinical development and practice as quickly as possible. In 1992, he established the first Clinical Research Group funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) at the Women’s Hospital..
The foundation is continued by former colleagues and associates of Prof. Dr. Graeff in the spirit of the late founder Annemarie Graeff, who passed away in 2021.

„Prof. Henner Graeff exemplary succeeded in bridging the gap between clinical basic research and disease- as well as patient-oriented research in ovarian and breast cancer.“
Marion Kiechle, director of the Women’s Hospital at the Klinikum rechts der Isar (TUM) since 2000 and holder of the Chair in Gynecology and Obstetrics.
